Google Chrome is one of the most popular search engines in the world. There are still other search engines like Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, but usually people will choose Google Chrome. The reason is because of it's speed. Google Chrome is actually more faster compare to other search engines, thus it is a lot people's first choice. Ever since smartphones have become popular, Google has created an online app for Chrome. I prefer using this compare to the internet apps that was originally given by the phone because of the speed. Therefore I could search for anything faster

Besides Whatsapp, Wechat and Viber, there is this messaging apps call Line.

Line was a messaging application from Japan. They have the same function with any other messaging apps such as Whatsapp and Wechat. They can send messages for free but only if your devices are connected to Wi-Fi. Not just that, instead of typing messages, you can now send voice message, so you can explain your words better.

These days, there are a lot messaging apps in the market. There's Wechat, Whatsapp, Kakao Talk, Viber and so on. The competition in this market is very strong. Therefore to compete in this market developers of these messaging apps company need to be innovative. When some people send messages, they love to put emojis to express their expression. It turns out that these stickers have become an icon for this messaging apps. Not only that, Line has created a lot of games for their consumers. Thus it's not just a messaging apps.

Just when Whatsapp have announced an overall loss for the first half of this year, Line seems to do pretty well. Just last month, Line has reported that their revenue has double up for the third quarter of this year. Their revenues are mostly generated from the in app purchase. Especially the stickers they selling now are one on the most profitable item.

YouTube

When we are searching for videos, there are actually a lot options such as YouTube, Dailymotion, Vimeo and Google Video. However regardless of all the options I have, my first choice is always YouTube.
I like to use YouTube because it is easy when I want to search for any videos. I can search for music videos, tutorial videos or I can even get to watch news on YouTube. It is very easy to use. All I need to do is just type the keywords of the video in the search bar then I can get the video I want. Besides that, there is a choice of resolution for your videos you are watching. Therefore we could enjoy the videos with better graphics.

Recently, there are a lot of advertisement in YouTube. For some of these advertisements users are given a choice to skip after 5 seconds, and sometimes the choice is not given. Users will have to let the whole video to play before the chosen video. Therefore sometimes the advertisement could be very annoying. Now, YouTube has come out with an idea for it. For users who find the advertisements very annoying, they can choose to pay free-ads fee so there will not be any advertisements pop out on our video anymore.

Social networking sites are a important part of everyone's daily life. People usually use it to connect with friends, games, news and so on. There are many social networking sites nowadays. For example, Twitter, My Space and Facebook are among the popular social networking websites.

Facebook is always my first choice to connect with my friends because all of my friends are Facebook users. Therefore it is very convenient for me.

I find this mobile application very user friendly. During assignment period, for group assignments especially, me and my group mates could upload photos, documents and also have discussion easily using the Facebook mobile app.

Besides that, by using the Facebook application I could get any news immediately. I do not have to depend on newspapers and magazines to get the latest news. I could easily read it on Facebook to get the updates. Many newspapers and magazines companies have started to post their articles and the latest news on Facebook due to the large number of users Facebook have.

I also do use Skype for conference calls, but it is not my primary option because it is quite lag, so I will prefer to use another app for conference calls. Skype conference calls can connect up to 10 people. Overall, it is fine. It is free. Everyone likes free stuff right?

Swarm is an app to keep track of where your friends are by checking-in. You will be able to know who is nearby whether your friends from your friend list checks in. You can also inform your friends about your plans and they will able to check you in too. You will be able to look back into the history of where you last been.

There are more disadvantages than advantages. Example, you need transport to a location and you post it on Swarm and one of your friends is going to the same place could give you a lift too or 'if' you are kidnapped, your friends and family will know where is the last place you've been.

As the pictures above, you will know whoever is in your friend list where they are and they will know where you are that is if you check in with Swarm. It also can link to other social website like Facebook and Twitter. The dangers of checking in are people will know your routines. It is not just where you are, they will also know when you been there. So, if you constantly check in the same place and almost the same time, it will be easy to track your house or the place you usually go. People aren't your real friends can track you down. Accounts can be fake. So always be aware of the dangers of checking in.

I have been using Waze for at least a year. I find this app quite useful as I am not good with roads. I don't find myself lost somewhere, but once or twice Waze almost led me to a wrong location even thou I type the full address (Don't follow it blindly). Overall, I am satisfied with this app. This app has online map editors which will keep the traffic up to date. The community also can update it, which will make Waze more efficient. Thus, if your community is active with Waze, you will be able to use Waze to its potential.

Snap snap! SnapChat Hacked

Posted by Chong Sueanne B1200761

Snapchat is an fast mobile conversation mobile app, where you just snap a picture and it is viewable for max 10 seconds only. Then, the picture will disappear. So cool right? Unless your friends screenshot the picture, your friends wont have a copy of it.

These are few pictures of Snapchat

Although you cant save other people's picture, it will still have a chance to be screenshot. The latest update allows you to view once more, but one picture only in a day. This update conflicts with their original purpose. According to an article, Snapchat is hacked and pictures had been leaked online. How can this happen if Snapchat deletes our pictures in the server? I don't trust this mobile app because there is a chance my privacy will be invaded.

Viber is also one of the user-friendly apps. Viber can synchronise your contact in the phone book once you signing in. It makes me more easier that I do not need to find and add my friends who are using viber. Besides, it is similar like WeChat. Viber also can send text, pictures, voice message and stickers. While QR code can be used to find friends easily as you scan it.

Furthermore, it can be connected to Twitter, Facebook and other social networking. Viber also can set your own privacy settings too.

In Viber, there is also sticker market can download with free or you also can purchase it.

In addition, you can make a free call to your friends easily no matter where are your friends as long as there is 3G or Wifi to connect Viber.

I would say that Viber is also very useful app to connect people with people.

Tweet No More?

Serena Kok Ee Ling
B1301532

Twitter is an online social networking service. “Tweets” are 140-character messages that users are able to “tweet” out and read. Registered users can read and post tweets, however, unregistered users can only read them. Users access Twitter through the website interface, SMS, or mobile device app.

Back in 2008, I jumped into Twitter’s bandwagon. I created an account of my own, followed my school mates, celebrities and others like fan pages and the news. Twitter was the place of conversation between my friends and I. I would also tweet out my thoughts, what I was doing, where I was going, retweet inspirational or humor quotes and joined in the “hashtag movement”. I was obsessed with Twitter. I have spent most of my teen years tweeting my little fingers off and constantly checking my Twitter feed.

I love the whole idea of Twitter. I very much prefer Twitter than Facebook (gasp). I like the fact that you are only able to tweet out 140 character messages which looks much cleaner on screen, no more clutter!

“The experience on Twitter today is the same experience people have always had on Twitter”

But as of lately, I have not been on Twitter. I can go though weeks without clicking on that Twitter app. I have no idea why but I guess I grew out of it. From time to time I would use Twitter to read the latest news. Maybe one day I would get back to the groove of it but as of right now, I’m putting Twitter on hold.
